Sisters

Evolution of an Astrophotographer

Pleiades

The Seven Sisters, Subaru, or M45 is a cluster of young, hot stars. It is also where it all started for me as an astrophotographer.

This image is from January 2021 and is one of the first DSOs (Deep Sky Objects) I ever captured. I was taken using my daughter’s Canon Rebel T6i camera with a crummy tripod and kit lens.

It’s not much to look at now, but on that cold January night, I was enthralled.

Can You See It?

Throughout time, the Seven Sisters has been gazed at by human societies around the world. In ancient times, it was used as a way to check a person’s eyesight with the number of stars observed determining the acuity of the observer’s gaze.
